McDougal, Thomas Trounce ASCS2 action at WRR!!

Cody Morris, Claremore, Oklahoma (4-20-2012) - Approximately 68 teams arrive at  Will Rogers Raceway for the 1st Lucas Oil American Small Car Series at Claremore, Oklahoma's 1/6 mile confine since 2009.

It was night that Factor One would dominate, wheeling two Tulsa area pilots to victory lane in the first of 7 Lucas Oil ASCS2 events scheduled at Will Rogers Raceway in the 2012 campaign.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Jason McDougal blasted back from his Riverside misfortune, wiring the 20 lap feature event en route to his 2nd Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted victory aboard the Factor One, Paul Albers Performance Plus, Lightning Wings, CSI, and ButlerBuilt sponsored no. 73 machine.

In an event marred by several stoppages, McDougal still managed to cross the finish line with a huge advantage over fellow front row starter Nathan Weida, with 2011 Port City Raceway Junior Sprint champion Taylor Reimer advancing from her 4th row starting spot to claim show position honors in her Lucas Oil ASCS2 debut.

Piedmont, Oklahoma's Grady Chandler and and Lone Star State rep Lyndon Harvey completed the top five running order over the 17 car field.

Collinsville, Oklahoma's Tyler Thomas pulled off a rare sweep of both Non Wing and Outlaw action to triple Factor One success.

Thomas had his work cut out for him in the 25 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing main event, starting outside third row and advancing to 4th by the midway point.

While Glenpool, Oklahoma's Matt Ward led through the first half of the 25 lapper, the top 4 were running nose to tail through every green flag lap. Following the halfway mark, Thomas turned in successive sliders on Trey Marcham and Steven Shebester before tackling the top spot with a handful of laps remaining.

It is Thomas' first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing success aboard the Factor One and Momo's no. 91T since claiming the final pair of events of the 2010 season at Kennedale, Texas' Cowtown Speedway.

Ward settled for his 3rd consecutive runner up finish with Oklahoma City's Trey Marcham claiming show position honors. Earl McDoulett Jr. advanced 7 spots to claim Hard Charger honors and a fourth place finish with Pauls Valley, Oklahoma's defending ASCS2 Non Wing Champion Steven Shebester completing the top five running order over the 31 car Non Wing field.

Thomas then swung over to his Factor One Outlaw and joined Scott Sawyer on the front row for the 25 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event.

In an extremely high paced affair, Thomas shot to a huge early lead. While Sawyer began to chip away in lapped traffic, time would ultimately run out with Thomas crossing the finish line for his 2nd victory of the evening aboard the Momo's powered no. 91T Factor One.

Sawyer settled for runner up rights with Sapulpa, Oklahoma's reigning two-time Outlaw champ Blake Hahn claiming show position honors.

Norman, Oklahoma's former Non Wing champ Christopher Bell advanced 3 spots to finish fourth with Bixby's 2009 Outlaw Champion Kevin Bayer completing the top top five running order over the 19 car Outlaw field.

The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series enters a lengthy lull in the 2012 campaign, having completed five of 15 scheduled events. Three full weekends of action remain at Claremore's Will Rogers Raceway before the series' shifts south to Kennedale, Texas' Cowtown Speedway for the final pair of weekends.

The 2012 Lucas Oil American Small Car Series campaign presently consists of 15 events in Oklahoma and Texas. Headlining relatives to the newly developed and Dallas/Ft. Woth based ASCS2 Lone Star Region, the Arizona based Cactus Region, as well as the southern Texas based Eight Mile Sprint Association; the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series showcases premiere mini sprint racing and features the brightest rising talents of the Mini Sprint Nation.

ASCS2 Returns to Will Rogers Raceway!!

Cody Morris, Tulsa, Oklahoma (4-9-2012) - The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series will make their grand return to Claremore, Oklahoma's Will Rogers Raceway this Friday, April 13th.

Regional mini sprint fans and race teams have eagerly awaited the grand reopening of the high banked 1/6th mile oval since word surfaced late last year.

In less than six months, promoters Robby and Tracy Schmidt have transformed the entire landscape of the regional mini sprint scene, putting forth a truly phenomenal effort not just to reopen a track that had sat idle for nearly 3 years, but to showcase an exceptional schedule of special events in their first year of bringing Will Rogers Raceway back to life.

And now, just one week after Will Rogers Raceways' sensational April 6th reopening, the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series proudly assembles its' forces for the first of 7 return trips to one an outstanding venue that truly provided a cornerstone in the Lucas Oil ASCS2 founding just five years ago.

Sapulpa, Oklahoma's back-to-back and reigning Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Blake Hahn leads the Outlaw class into Friday's one night stand, but Norman, Oklahoma's Christopher Bell sweep of Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw action at the Ryan Craighead Memorial offers recent and credible protest.

In fact, a gathering of every past ASCS2 Outlaw champion could be imminent, as Jerrod Wilson, Kevin Bayer, and Andrew Felker may each feel inclined to join in the ASCS2 return to Will Rogers Raceway.

Pauls Valley's Steven Shebester undoubtedly leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing forces into Claremore. The defending Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Champion swept the season opening weekend of ASCS2 competition at Cowtown, before following that success with a pair of podium finishes at I-44.

The Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted division will likely again showcase a deeply talented field, as the class boasts four winners in as many nights' of competition thus far in the 2012 campaign.

If a favorite is to be determined, Jason McDougal would likely fit the bill. The 14 year old, Broken Arrow racer ran away with his first career ASCS2 score in season opening action at Cowtown, and was in position to repeat that success this past Saturday night at the 11th Annual Ryan Craighead Memorial before being wiped out immediately following a pass for the lead.

McDougal looks to wipe such miserable luck from his memory in challenging his three fellow ASCS2 2012 Restricted winners to a duel on his turf, as two of the 2012 Restricted winners are native to the Lone Star State and Grady Chandler resides in the greater Oklahoma City area.

The wait ends Friday, April 13th, as the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series will file into Claremore's Will Rogers Raceway for the first time in nearly 3 years and the first of 7 scheduled ASCS2 events at Will Rogers Raceway in the 2012 season.

Bell, Dromgoole, and Byrd Victorious in RCM finale!!

Cody Morris, Oklahoma City, OK (4-8-2012) - Following a Friday night weekend opener, the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series returned Saturday night to once again headline I-44 Riverside Speedway's 11th annual Ryan Craighead Memorial.

While the Outlaw class was swept, the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing and Restricted divisions each produced first time winners of the 2012 campaign.

In Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw action, Norman, Oklahoma's open wheel standout Christopher Bell prevailed in wire-to-wire fashion after also taking preliminary night honors aboard the Metric Cycles powered MelMark Pipe, KMK Enterprises, Team RRD, Bishop Racing Components, and Afco sponsored no. 21 Sawyer mount.

The 2010 ASCS2 Non Wing titlist stayed just out of range of Sapulpa, Oklahoma's two-time and defending ASCS2 Outlaw champion Blake Hahn. Hahn maintained Bell's raucous pace for much of the main event, even throwing a well executed turn 3 slider on lap 17, but Bell stayed on point.

Following a lap 18 caution for a 2nd Jay Ball spin, Bell went unchallenged over the final 7 circuits of the 25 lap affair to become the second Outlaw weekend sweeper of the young 2012 season, after Arkansas native Travis Senter accomplished precisely the same feat in season opening Outlaw action at Cowtown Speedway. A swell weekend Bell, who led all but 4 of 45 laps of ASCS2 Outlaw A Main action contested over the weekend.

Hahn crossed with a spirited runner up finish, with Lyndsay, Oklahoma's 2010 ASCS2 Outlaw 2010 Ryan Craighead Memorial winner Harli White settling for show position honors.

El Reno, Oklahoma's Josh Toho claimed 4th at the line with Texan Drew Salisbury netting the 5th in the final rundown. Skiatook, Oklahoma's 2008 ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Jerrod Wilson claimed Hard Charger honors for the 2nd consecutive evening, advancing from last (18th) to tenth at the finish line.

Andrew Felker and Harli White took heat race nods over the 18 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw field.

In Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing action, OKC racer Josh Marcham led the field to the beginning of the 25 lap Non Wing main event, but it was hometown favorite Shelby Byrd flying into the early lead.

Byrd's sensational pace paid off as he skillfully dismantled lapped traffic en route to his 1st ASCS2 Non Wing triumph of the 2012 season aboard the Metric Cycles powered, BioTech Products and CKS Fabrication sponsored no. 5 with special thanks to family support.

With Byrd fully in command throughout the 25 lap ASCS2 Non Wing main event, a collection of highly talented wingless racers delighted onlookers with a race lone battle for the open podium spots.

While the top 5 spread out prior to preliminary night winner Chris Cochran slowing to a stop with mechanical woes on the 7th round, defending Non Wing champion Steven Shebester joined Marcham in challenging Glenpool, Oklahoma's Matt Ward for the top challenger spot.

The trio exchanged sliders and progressive runs throughout the event, with Ward ultimately emerging with the runner up spot and Shebester settling for show position honors at the finish line.

Marcham crossed fourth with Mooresville, North Carolina's three-time and reigning Chili Bowl Midget Nationals champion Kevin Swindell taking Hard Charger honors by advancing from the 19th spot at the start to conclude the top five running order 25 laps later.

Andy Shouse, Jim Woods, Josh Marcham, and Morgan Dowdy each claimed heat race wins over the 38 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing field, with John Roan and Kevin Swindell taking winning style transfers in the twin 12 lap B Mains.

In Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted division action, Broken Arrow's Cowtown winner and point leader Jason McDougal paced the field to the opening green of Saturday's 25 lap finale, but it was outside front row starter Seth Brown gaining the early edge.

McDougal shadowed Brown's leading pace before making a move for the top spot at the halfway point. McDougal's skillful move by Brown in turn 3 resulted in a hatchet job, with Brown spinning McDougal just moments after the latter battled by.

McDougal would have to tag the rear of the field after a caution immediately flew for his stranded Factor One no. 73, but an obvious rough driving ruling would send Brown to the tail as well.

Friday night Restricted winner Grady Chandler inherited the lap 13 lead, with Peyton Pierce battling by on the restart and losing power immediately. Chandler would command again until North Richland, Texas' Aaron Dromgoole made the winning move with 5 laps to go.

Once in front, Dromgoole cruised to his first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted victory aboard the Metric Cycles powered, Farris Auto Salvage and Roy Miller Auto Salvage sponsored no. P40 Sawyer Chassis.

Chandler accepted runner up honors aboard the MelMark no. 00, with Brown snaring show position honors at the finish line. Ryan Padgett crossed the final stripe fourth, with hometown favorite Tanner Conn netting his first top 5 ASCS2 finish after moving up from the Kid Sprint class.

Dromgoole's first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted victory also marked the Restricted Hard Charger performance, as the Texas racer advanced 7 spots from his outside 4th row starting spot.

The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series continues the 2012 campaign with round five at Claremore, Oklahoma Will Rogers Raceway this coming Friday, April 13th.

Bell, Cochran, and Chandler take RCM prelim victories!!

Cody Morris, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (4-6-2011) - Nearly 80 regional race teams flowed into I-44 Riverside Speedway confines Friday night for Lucas Oil American Small Car Series action in the opening leg of the 11th Annual Ryan Craighead Memorial.

Norman, Oklahoma's 2010 ASCS Non Wing champ rolled to a convincing victory in the 25 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event. Moving up from his outside 2nd row starting spot, Bell took command on lap and, despire 3 stoppages, went unchallenged for his first ASCS2 victory of the season.

Bell was trailed by Amarillo, Texas native Caleb Lovelady, with El Reno, Oklahoma's Josh Toho advancing charging 8 spots to narrowly settle for show position honors. Sapulpa, Oklahoma's back-to-back and reigning Lucas Oil ASCS Outlaw champion Blake Hahn took the 4th and final transfer spot into Saturday night's Lucas Oil ASCS2/Ryan Craighead Memorial weekend finale.

Matt Ward, Chris Bell, and Caleb Lovelady each took heat race honors over the 18 car Outlaw field.

McLoud, Oklahoma's Chris Cochran earned a hard fought victory in the 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing main event. But it was a ferocious Trey Marcham flip that had race fans on the edge of their seat from the start. Exiting turn two at full speed, pack contact resulted in Marcham flipping violently, end over end down the backstraight, Nearby Newcastle resident Trey Robb collided with Marcham as his uncontrollable mount tumbled, resulting in a Robb flip and a continuation of Marcham's. To both disbelief and tremendous relief, Marcham immediately emerged from his destroyed Concept Chassis unscathed.

. Playing part in a memorable duel with Oklahoma City's Shelby Byrd over the 1st half of the 20 lapper, Cochran inched by on the 12th circuit and fought off late race rallies by both Matt Ward and Steven Shebester to take his first ASCS Non Wing victory of the 2012 campaign.

Glenpool, Oklahoma's Matt Ward settled for runner up honors with Pauls Valley's defending Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing champion Steve Shebester accepting show position honors. Hometown favorite Shelby Byrd took the 4th and final lock in spot to Saturday night's Lucas Oil ASCS2/Ryan Craighead Memorial weekend finale.

Kyle Keeler, Sterling Hoff, Trey Robb, Andy Shouse, and Cord Dodson each took heat race honors over the 44 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing field, with Texans Taylor Smitherman and Morgan Dowdy topping the twin 12 lap B features.

Piedmont, Oklahoma's Grady Chandler rode his buckshot 00 to victory lane in the 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted main event. While Chandler led wire to wire, Payton Pierce put on a show for I-44 Riverside Speedway spectators - advancing 9 spots, 3 in the final 2 laps, to take runner up honors. Seth Brown took show position honors with McKenzie Ramey snaring the 4th and final lock in spot into Saturday night's Lucas Oil ASCS2/Ryan Criaghead Memorial weekend finale.

Aaron Dromgoole and Seth Brown took heat race honors over the 16 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted field.

Lucas Oil ASCS2 action continues with Saturday night's Ryan Craighead Memorial finale at I-44 Riverside Speedway. Racing begins at 7pm.

ASCS2 Rolls into Riverside for RCM!

Cody Morris, TULSA,OK (4-3-2012) - The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series resumes the 2012 campaign this weekend with the 11th running of the Ryan Craighead Memorial at Oklahoma City's I-44 Riverside Speedway.

One of the most prestigious mini sprint events in the region since the' 2002 inception following the tragic passing of Ryan Craighead in 2001, the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series will headline the two day event held in his honor.

It has been 6 weeks since the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series kicked off the 2012 campaign at Cowtown Speedway's 5th Annual Big Chill, a weekend of action that featured a record 132 Lucas Oil American Small Car Series competitors.

Osceola, Arkansas' Big Chill sweeper Travis Senter leads the Outlaw crop into Riverside action. Senter will have a rugged challenge should he opt for Riverside's 1/6th mile oval this weekend. Sapulpa, Oklahoma's back to back and reigning Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw champion Blake Hahn is primed for his first Outlaw score of the season.

Lindsay, Oklahoma's Harli White also aims to defend her 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial Outlaw title.

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma's Steven Shebester leads the Non Wing field into the 11th Annual Ryan Craighead Memorial. The 2011 ASCS2 Non Wing champ began the 2012 season in increasingly familiar form, sweeping ASCS Non Wing action at Cowtown. Shebester also looks to defend his 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial Non Wing title.

2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted Champion and 2011 Ryan Craighead Memorial Restricted class sweeper Chance Morton will not be defending his overwhelming 2011 Restricted success, as the young Coweta, Oklahoma native has reset his sights to Outlaw action.

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Jason McDougal enters the Easter fray with a 20 point lead over Fort Worth's McKenzie Ramey. The 5th Annual Big Chill finale winner has exploded onto the Restricted scene, following his Cowtown accomplishment with a dominant Restricted sweep at Port City Raceway's season opening Spring Fling.

The Lucas Oil ASCS2 headlining of I-44 Riverside Speedway's 11th Annual Ryan Craighead Memorial begins Friday night at 7pm, followed by a Saturday night finale of the same time.

Senter and Shebester Sweep; McDougal Cashes in at Big Chill Finale!!

Cody Morris, KENNEDALE, TEXAS (02-11-2012) - A series' record 132 Lucas Oil American Small Car Series race teams checked into Cowtown Speedway confines for the 5th Annual Big Chill.

The 2012 season opener held much contrast to those in attendance. Friday's frigid opening night of the two day event was but a preview to the Arctic blast that would meet patrons for a Saturday finale that saw daytime high temperature's not escape the 30's before devolving into painful nighttime wind chill values in the mid-teens.

But that was everywhere outside of the highbanked 1/4 mile racing surface, where nearly every painful movement of frozen air was met with a chess match of high speed and daring maneuvre. Such high quality racing has fast become signature for Cowtown Speedway.

A trio of preliminary night winners had opportunity for 5th Annual Big Chill sweeps, and as the adage goes, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

In headlining Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw competition, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Scott Sawyer paced the field from the pole position for the 2nd night in a row, as well as leading the first of 20 main event laps before a red flag for Tennessee native Howard Moore's turn 4 tumble stopped event progress entirely.

Sawyer led Missouri's former ASCS2 and POWRi Outlaw Champion Andrew Felker with Osceola, Arkansas' preliminary night winner Travis Senter up from his outside 2nd row starting spot. Senter would rocket into first challenger status immediately upon restart and offer duel to Sawyer by the 5th circuit, while an intense battle for 3rd developed between Felker and Pryor, Oklahoma's "Legendary Blue Wazoo" Frank Flud.

Senter's assault grew more progressive as the race steadily neared the halfway point, with Senter slipping by Sawyer as the duo drag raced out of turn 4 to take the halfway flag. Sawyer stayed within range until Senter reached lapped traffic on lap 13, which the crafty veteran then picked apart with clinical precision.

With no late race stoppages, Senter crossed the final stripe with nearly a half lap advantage en route to his 5th Annual Big Chill sweep of Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw competition aboard the Wren Motorsports and Accurate Machine Works sponsored no. 4w.

A late race battle for the 2nd spot between Sawyer and Flud quickly dissipated when Flud pulled into the infield with motor woes with 2 laps remaining. Sawyer crossed the finish line in a very distant runner up spot, with Longview, Texas native and perennially competitive Tyson Hall claiming show position honors. Andrew Felker crossed the stripe 4th with Steven Shebester rounding out the top 5 running order to garner his 2nd top 5 Outlaw finish in as many nights, albeit this time without a collision into the front straight wall as he crossed the final stripe.

Sapulpa, Oklahoma's Blake Hahn overcame mechanical woes that kept him from heat race competition. Hahn's comeback began with a push from last to the 3rd and final transfer spot in the 1st of 2 twelve lap B Feature's. Hahn shot from 23rd to 8th in the 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event (with just 1 race stoppage and that coming on the 2nd lap). The reigning two time Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion's effort would garner him Hard Charger honors.

Frank Flud, Tyler Courtney, Chance Morton, Caleb Lovelady, and Tyler Thomas took heat race honors over the exceptionally stout 48 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw field, with Howard Moore and Kyle Keeler taking winning-style transfer's in the two 12 lap Outlaw B Mains.

In Lucas Oil Non Wing action at the 5th Annual Big Chill finale, Longview, Texas' Tyson Hall would lead the 24 car field to the start of the 20 lap main event. The first couple attempts would be nullified due to a Taylor Smitherman turn one rollover, before a pair of cars spun to a stall to avoid the broken pace of the polesitter Hall as he slowed with mechanical issues.

The 3rd attempt would prove succesful, with 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year Aaron Reutzel piloting the Wren Motorsports stock entry into the lap one lead. Preliminary night Non Wing winner and reigning Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Champion Steven Shebester immediately offered challenge, advancing from his 2nd row starting spot.

An early race battle would emerge between Reutzel and Shebester, as the former graced the famed high side of Cowtown and the latter claiming his preferred low line with Retta, Texas' rising contender Keith Martin following behind Shebester.

A pair of caution's just before the halfway point did not change the top running order, but the action would heat up just past the halfway point of the 20 lap affair. Shebester's low line through the turns improved to the point he was alongside the leader for a drag down each straightaway for several laps before slipping underneath with 5 laps to go.

A lap 15 caution for Indianapolis native Tyler Courtney would see the final stoppage of the event and at opportune timing for Shebester as he had shown what had become the best groove through each turn.

Shebester took a 6 car length advantage across the final stripe for a complete sweep of the weekend's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing action at Cowtown Speedway's 5th Annual Big Chill aboard the Concept Chassis, Infinity Structures, Wrap Experts, Metric Cycles, Afco Shocks, and Bishop Racing Components sponsored no. 82.

Martin slipped by Reutzel late to net runner up honors, with Reutzel closing out the podium for the 2nd consecutive night to complete a very succesful weekend of action for the Wren Motorsports 4w racing team.

Oklahoma City native Trey Marcham raced from 11th to claim 4th at the final line, with Owasso, Oklahoma's Matt Sherrell making a hellacious run from the dead last 24th starting spot to complete the top 5 running order and earn Non Wing Hard Charger honors.

Brian Debrick, Tyson Hall, Taylor Smitherman, Ryan Jaisle, Billy Lawhead, and Scotty Evans each claimed heat race bragging rights over a staggering 58 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing field, with George White, Bobby Springer, and Josh Marcham earning winning advances in the three 12 lap B Feature events.

In Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted action at Cowtown's 5th Annual Big Chill finale, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Jason McDougal paced the field the start of the 20 lap Restricted main event.

McDougal would lead a single lap under green before leading a couple dozen under caution after a lap two stoppage for a Austin Lambert spin. McDougal would pick up where he left off, only to deal with several stoppages in the first few laps, the most notable being a rather nasty tumble of preliminary night winner Dylan Fox onto turn 3 of the 1/4 track. Fox would emerge both safely and dejected.

The pack would once again get underway with 4 of 20 laps completed. McDougal clearly showed himself the car to beat as he crossed the halfway point with McKenzie Ramey and Aaron Dromgoole in tow.

McDougal's pace would be somewhat troubled by lapped traffic starting on the 12th circuit, but a lap 15 Trey Lambert spin would provide both a close call for the leading pack immediately behind, but more importantly give McDougal the clean air his Factor One glided so cleanly in.

Jason McDougal put away the final 5 laps with little challenge en route to the first Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted triumph of his young and blossoming racing career aboard the Factor One, Paul Albers Performance Plus, Lightning Wings, ButlerBuilt, and CSI sponsored no. 73 machine.

Local Fort Worth native McKenzie Ramey took runner up honors with Euless, Texas' Aaron Dromgoole claiming show position honors for the 2nd consecutive night. Sapulpa, Oklahoma's Mickey Walker crossed the final stripe 4th with Piedmont, Oklahoma native Grady Chandler making a late race pass to complete the top 5 running order.

Payton Pierce and Grady Chandler took head race honors over the 20 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted field, with Midlothian, Texas native Trevor Goad netting hard charger honors after advancing from his 20th starting spot to finish 13th.

The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series shares the warmest of thanks to Cowtown Speedway for an extremely succesful 5th consecutive running of this event, while also looking forward to 2 more weekends of Lucas Oil ASCS2 action at Cowtown confines in October and November.

Also, we could hardly thank the competing race teams more. A record breaking field in such frozen conditions as we had this weekend speaks volumes to the commitment of regional racing teams that are unquestionably among the best in the nation. You all light a bright path forward for the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series, Cowtown Speedway, and the southern Mini Sprint Nation. With the warmest thanks to each of the 132 teams in Lucas Oil ASCS2 competiton at the 5th Annual Big Chill, we look forward to seeing all of you again in the 2012 campaign, albeit in more positive weather conditions.

The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series is currently slated to resume the 2012 season campaign on Friday, April 13th at the newly reopened Will Rogers Raceway in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Discussions continue to keep a traditional date on the schedule before then and if succesful, widespread announcement will be made in short order.

Fox, Shebester, and Senter Snare Victories in 5th Annual Big Chill Opener!!

Cody Morris, KENNEDALE, TEXAS (02-10-2012) - A Lucas Oil American Small Car Series record 125 competitors checked into Cowtown Speedway confines for the 2012 Lucas Oil ASCS2 season opener at Cowtown Speedway's 5th Annual Big Chill. And with area temperatures in the mid 40's at racetime and flirting with mid 20's by its' end - the event certainly lived up to its' billing.

Three winners from three seperate states raced to preliminary night victories at the 5th Annual Big Chill, with the top 4 from each division locked into the top 6 redraw for the headlining Lucas Oil American Small Car Series main events.

Friday night's 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw main event would be led to green by inaugural 2008 Big Chill winner and Tulsa native Scott Sawyer. Sawyer's early lead came to a quick end courtesy Osceola, Arkansas' accomplished mini sprint veteran Travis Senter.

By the midway point of the event Senter's torrential pace had earned him a strong advantage over Carl's Junction, Missouri's 2009 ASCS2 and 2011 POWRi champion Andrew Felker with Sawyer, Steven Shebester, and reigning back to back ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Blake Hahn in tow.

Only a lap 14 caution for a stalled Dalton Wiseley in turn 4 could slow down Senter, as he torched the field in the Wren Motorsports and Accurate Machine Works no. 4w entry. Felker matched Senter's pace for a time following the lap 14 restart, but ultimately settled for the runner up spot while Sawyer accepted show position honors.

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma's reigning Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing champion Steven Shebester crossed the finishing line 1 car length ahead of a surging Tyson Hall, that car length resulting in incidental contact that sent Shebester hard into the front straightaway wall. Shebester would walk away from the crash, but damage to the mount was extensive and likely required a post-race thrashing to get into shape for Saturday night's Outlaw finale. Hall's charge from 10th in the final five laps would net a top 5 finish.

Andrew Felker, Tyson Hall, Scott Sawyer, Travis Senter, and Blake Hahn each claimed 8 lap heat race honors over the 48 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw field, with Tucker Klaasmeyer and Dalton Wiseley leading advancing trio's in twin 12 lap B Features.

Shebester's dash to a locked in transfer spot into Saturday's Outlaw finale was not his sole, nor best, accomplishment of the evening for the reigning Non Wing champion.

Oklahoma City's Dalton Steed initiated the action for the 20 lap Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing A feature before Kyle Jones powered past to lead the first lap. That too would end up a short lead, as 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year Aaron Reutzel would opt for the lap two-turn two top side abaord the Wren Motorsports no. 4w stock entry to race past Jones.

As action raged throughout the field, Reutzel fended off attacks from a variety of challengers until Shebester emerged from the pack to succesfully challenge for the point at the midway stage of the race. The defending Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Champion battled by Reutzel just before the final caution of the event flew on lap 12 for a Stoney Gilbert spin in turn one.

Shebester's preferred low line proved too good for debate, as the 20 year old Non Wing specialist sped off to victory in the first event of the 2012 ASCS2 Non Wing campaign aboard the Concept Chassis, Infinity Structures, Metric Cycles, Wrap Experts, and Bishop's Racing Components sponsored no. 82.

Indianaplis, Indiana's Tyler Courtney emerged from the racy fray to earn runner up honors, with Reutzel accepting show position honors. Retta, Texas' rising talent Keith Martin catapulted from his 19th starting spot to the 4th and final lock in position to saturday's Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing main event.

Kyle Jones, Aaron Reutzel. Ryan Jaisle, Michelle Melton, Kaley Engstrom, and Justin Melton each earned 8 lap heat race honors over the 57 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing field, with Keith Martin, Scotty Evans, and Colby Estes leading the transfers amid the trio of 12 lap B Feature events.

In Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted action, Dylan Fox lead the field to green, in fact he wired the field, though not without constant challenge.

Amidst approximately five caution period spread nearly equally throughout the 20 lap main event on the 1/8th mile "action track", Fox was tasked with fending off Johnny Boland, the latter gaining tenacity after a series of runner up finishes in Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted action at Cowtown last fall.

Fox's defense would be succesful when Boland was forced pitside with front end woes. After the final yellow with 5 laps remaining, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Jason McDougal delivered staunch challenge for the duration of the event, but Fox would prove his likeness in lapped traffic - dashing to the first victory lane of the young 2012 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted campaign aboard the Print Place Motorsports no. 27 with sincere thanks to father Gary Fox, as well as Robby Fox, Shawn Peterson, Kevin Ramey, and Kay Rawdon.

McDougal settled for runner up honors with Euless, Texas native Aaron Dromgoole accepting show position honors. Fort Worth's McKenzie Ramey netted the 4th and final automatic lock in position to saturday night's $500 to win Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted main event finale. Broken Arrow's Mickey Walker fell one spot short of a lock in, but advanced from 11th to complete the top 5 running order.

Austin Lambert, Payton Pierce, and Dylan Fox earned 8 lap heat race bragging rights over the 20 car Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted field.

The Lucas Oil American Small Car Series 2012 season opener continues with a headlining finale saturday night in Cowtown Speedway's 5th Annual Big Chill.

18 winged 305ci sprints starred in friday's frigid preliminary night, a similar number will be expected trackside for saturday's Big Chill finale, with USRA modifieds also on hand for the weekend finale.

Complete feature results will be displayed by the closing of the weekend.

5th Annual Big Chill Launches 2012 ASCS2 Campaign!!

Cody Morris, TULSA, OK (02-07-2012) - For the 5th consecutive season, Kennedale, Texas' high banked, quarter mile gem will launch the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series season opener.

This coming February 10th weekend, the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series will collaberate with Cowtown Speedway to kick off the 2012 outdoor racing season with the 5th Annual Big Chill.

The full trio of Lucas Oil ASCS2 divisions will headline the 5th Annual Big Chill, featuring the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw, Non Wing, and Restricted divisions, with the Non Wing divison challenging their south texas-based EMSA brethren. RaceSaver 305 sprint cars will join the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series for both weekend events, with local USRA modifieds making an appearance in the weekend finale Saturday night.

Each of the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Champions will be joined on raceday by the three 2011 Big Chill victors.

Sapulpa, Oklahoma's open wheel powerhouse Blake Hahn will be looking for his first Big Chill victory, one of the few achievements that still eludes the skilled pilot of the Speedway Vending no. 52 Outlaw machine. The back-to-back and reigning ASCS2 Outlaw champ looks to add a Big Chill score to an ever expanding trophy case that most recently received a 2012 Tulsa Shootout Golden Driller in EcoTec Midget action.

While Hahn's title defense remains tentative subject to a very promising breakout season in regional sprint car ranks, Coweta, Oklahoma's Chance Morton turned in a memorable 2011 season in the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted ranks, notching 7 wins in 14 starts, including a late season sweep of ASCS2 Restricted competition at the 2011 Cowtown November Nationals.

Following a 2010 duel with eventual Non Wing Champion Christopher Bell, Shebester marched to his first Lucas Oil ASCS Non Wing title in 2011. Both are expected trackside for the 5th Annual Big Chill.

Leading the defending 2011 Big Chill triumverate, Lindsay, Oklahoma's Harli White kicked off a breakthrough season with an emphatic Outlaw score that would be repeated in season finale action also at Cowtown Speedway. Outdueling speedy Longview, Texas native Tyson Hall, an exceptional feat at any track, but even more pronounced given Hall's Outlaw success at Cowtown,  White snatched 2011 Big Chill honors over 43 fellow Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw competitors.

A highly accomplished ASCS sprint car veteran and hometown favorite, Forth Worth, Texas' Kevin Ramey outlasted a whopping 46 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing competitors for a 2011 Big Chill crown that also marked his first breakthrough into the Lucas Oil ASCS2 winners circle.

El Reno, Oklahoma's Kyle Keeler took 2011 Big Chill honors over 24 fellow participants, his first of three 2011 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted victories. Several starts in stock 600 action could indicate an entry in the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing field, but the sharp new RPM Motorsports Outlaw machine could indicate an entry into that division as well.

These six competitors are just a soft preview to a huge, talented group of seasoned mudslingers expected to converge upon Kennedale, Texas' Cowtown Speedway this weekend for the 5th Annual Big Chill.

The 5th Annual Big Chill, headlined by the Lucas Oil American Small Car Series, will ignite Friday, February 10th. Gates open at 4pm with hot laps at 6pm followed by an official start time of 7pm.

Saturday, February 11th will deliver the weekend finale of the 5th Annual Big Chill. Gates open at 3pm, with hotlaps at 5pm and an official start time of 6pm.
